Ronin Dragon Karate Classes

Class Descriptions

  1. Basics (Kihon): Here the students will learn the fundamentals of martial arts and the Ronin Dragon System. Some of these include stances, blocks, strikes, and kicks. These are the roots of your martial arts knowledge. They must never be forgotten and must be performed the strongest.
  2. Techniques (Bunkai/Waza): Here the students will learn traditional self defense movements with either grab arts, locks, traps, throws, or even strikes. Techniques almost always include: avoid the strike, block and strike. An attack must always be blocked and countered.
  3. Sparring (Kumite): Here the students will put together what they have learned from their basics and techniques and use them in action. Sparring is a controlled fight with gear (head, hand, feet, mouth guard, and shin pads if necessary).
  4. Kata: The kata is a specific set of movements designed to combine the bunkai (techniques) into a form or routine. Our katas include Ronin Dragon, Shito-Shu and Shotokan systems.
  5. Weapons: The weapons will be performed the same as katas. They will be put into a form of specific moves and techniques. Not only will the students learn how to maneuver the weapon, but also know how to use it in combat.
